School ended in mid-June. I had a great first year (IMO, anyway) and have terrific memories to keep with me always.
I have found work at a small, locally-owned, non-profit at which I will be teaching computer skills to people in Maine. I’m optimistic that I’ll be doing something worthwhile and beneficial to our community with this company, and I cannot wait to get started!
Steve and I have also visited several places around the state in the six weeks, including:

Canada..

Kingsbrae Garden in St. Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick..

Campobello Island..

Roque Bluffs State Park..

Pembroke..

Rockland Harbor..

and Boyd Lake.
Yeah, we get around.
I hope to have more photos and adventures before returning to work. Time will tell!

This week is April Vacation Week for Maine public schools, and for part of this week, Steve and I are in Newport, Rhode Island. Neither of us had been here before for any appreciable amount of time (Steve had been through but hadn’t stopped), so it gave us an opportunity to explore a new-to-us place. Fun!

I’ve finally taken some time and altered the look of the site, and not just in an “oh, look! pretty new theme!” kind of way, either.. even if that is part of it. Things are still in process (I have to figure out how to make a 1×24-pixel gradient), but the list includes:
- Pretty new WP theme (it’s called Tiga)
- New avatar (with stunning likeness!) of me, with credit given in page footer
- New background (undecided on whether I’ll keep this one)
- New Flickr badge
- New smart-alecky footer commentary
..and at some point, I’ll add content on a regular basis. It would help if I could talk about work (which is what I do all day, every day.. much like everyone else), but I can’t exactly blather on about what happens in my classroom. Obviously, I need to expand my horizons.
I did acquire a new camera recently. It’s a Kodak Z710. Lots of megapixels, lots of great features, a terrific manual (which I will read in-depth soon!), and the ability to capture video with sound. You can see the first set of photos I took with that camera here.
Maybe this will turn into a photo blog? I dunno. I just don’t have a clear purpose for the site yet, other than to be another outlet for creativity and a sandbox for learning.
